Jacqueline L. Holland
I am a current resident of Kenton County and co owner of Halt N Salut Equestrian Center, LLC. My equestrian background started when I was in college at Ohio University as a student on the Western and Hunt Seat teams. I have ridden and shown successfully in Reining, Western Pleasure, Hunt Seat, Paso Finos, and Dressage. Classical Dressage and centered riding have been my focus since 1990 and I have taken instruction from Olympic riders and judges including Max Gawyler, Janet Foy, Bill Fields, and Margaret Mc Glasson to name a few. I continue to take instruction and audit as well as ride in clinics for both Dressage and Paso Fino.
I have had a wonderful opportunity to collaborate with the veterinarians in our area and was employed at Bridlewood Farm with Dr. Barb Schmidt where I was able to assist in the breeding program. I was in charge of handling stallions for breeding as well as handling mares and foals all the way through their inspection process. Other duties included vet assistant on farm calls and at the farm helping on rehabilitation of horses to bandaging. This was a wonderful experience for me as a horse owner and now a boarding and training facility owner.
Learning all aspects of the horse industry has made me a better owner, rider. I have only scratched the surface of what there is out there to learn, and I have been learning in this field for over 25 years. There is a lot to learn in this business if you want to be successful. It helps to keep an open mind and listen to everyone’s ideas.
I am currently the Chair for the Events and Education Committee and have helped coordinate and run clinics, shows, and meetings.
I currently sit on the horse show committee of NKHN and have been for the past 7 years. I have volunteered for many events put on by NKHN from the drill team competition to the All-Breed show and other clinics.
