What is the Network all about?

The Network is a group of horse enthusiasts, from business owners to weekend riders that include all breeds and disciplines. We work in a collaborative effort with the County Extension Agents to promote equestrian activities and provide useful information to all horse owners. Our Mission is to protect the horse population, provide recreational opportunities, encourage sound management practices, promote agri-tourism and interest in the local horse industry and encourage the Northern KY region to become a model equine community for all disciplines and breeds.

How can I get more involved?

There are several different committees that meet usually once a month. These committees include, Events, Show, Membership, and Trail Blazers. Each committee has a page with description of what they do. Every committee is always happy to have new members to help out. If you cannot attend a meeting but want to help, please contact the chairperson of that committee and let them know.

Who can I contact if I am not receiving any information?

You may contact any of the Board of Directors or the Chairperson of the Membership committee. Their contact information is listed on the Board of Directors page or on the committee page.

How long does my membership last?

Memberships are for one calendar year. You can easily join or renew your membership online using Paypal. If you sign up for the joint membership with KHC remember that the liability coverage you receive from KHC does not begin until the first of the year.

What do I get when I join?

Members receive quarterly newsletters, membership stickers, email notices of upcoming educational clinics and social events organized by and for our members.

We also host quarterly meetings and an Annual dinner.

Business members also receive a free enhanced listing on our NKY Equine directory with a live link to their website.

What areas are included?

Based on our by-laws, we cover the 9 county region of the UK Extension Service. Those counties include: Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Grant, Pendleton, Owen, Gallatin, Carroll and Bracken counties. However, we are not limited to these counties and have active members from many other areas.

Is the Northern Kentucky Horse Network part of KEEP or the Kentucky Horse Council?

No, The NKHN is a non-profit 501c-3 organization. We have gratefully received grants from KEEP and KHC but we operate independently of them.

Who runs the Network?

No one person defines the Network. A Board of 9 Elected Directors endeavor to serve the needs of the horse community within the scope of our Mission Statement.

We are not a lobbying organization. We are all volunteers.
